Chouette is a micro-producer based in Western Australia’s Swan Valley by second-generation winemaker Tom Daniel. The word Chouette means both ‘owl’ and ‘cool’, a tribute to the Valley’s past and future, reflecting Tom’s connection to old and new.

With respect to the traditions of the Valley’s European grape grower settlers, Tom’s Dad before him, and the ancient Boyay Gogomat Owl Stone at the head of the Susannah Brook songline, Chouette brings a fresh perspective to the region, producing artful, textured and energetic wines that speak of the sun, soil and spirit of the land.

Set on the Susannah Brook waterway in Perth’s foothills, right on the edge of the city, Chouette honours the land’s story, producing modern wines from old vines, rooted in place and intent.

Our wines are produced with modern drinkability in mind, with respect to wisdoms of the past and an enduring connection to the Swan Valley.

The vineyards that we own and manage are farmed sustainably and responsibly, working predominantly with warm climate-appropriate, dry-grown varieties.

Winery production is micro scale, informed by intuition and artistic sensibilities using hand-picked old-vine fruit. Fermentation is wild, with a view to wines of natural balance, playful energy and technical depth. All our wines are produced, raised and bottled in-house at Chouette winery.
